DAY ONE - FOUR RULES
“Stress results when our actions don’t align with our values.”
Many of us in car audio are responsible for what our business sells - even if that wasn’t our original plan. Many started out as technicians without any sales function, but eventually promotion or business ownership places the responsibility for sales directly upon us.
At that moment, we seem to lose the aura of trustworthiness - customers who trusted us when we didn’t have a vested interested suddenly are skeptical, now that we do.
The Four Rules exist for two reasons - to demonstrate to the skeptical that this vital function can be dome in an ethical manner, and to remind those of us engaged in ethical sales to stay the course.
This first section covers the Four Rules in depth, and serves as an introduction to the rest of the course.
DAY TWO - THE FOUR STEPS
“Always be closing’ is baloney.”
Many perceive sales as a stressful activity - but most of the stress in sales comes from getting the sequence of steps wrong.
Some have been taught 9-step sales processes, and some have been taught 7-step processes. That’s too many - so here’s a four-step process.
The Four Steps looks at the salesperson’s responsibility as a project manager, extending through the delivery date rather than ending the day of the initial transaction.
Special attention is paid to “objections”, and using the WADE formula to navigate them to everyone’s benefit.
DAY THREE - THE FOUR MODES
“The map is not the territory - but it helps to have a map."
The Four Modes is a practical framework for understanding what motivations affect the people involved in a purchase.
While more complex approaches may serve academic goals, any approach meant to be useful in the moment needs to be simple and straightforward.
The Four Modes doesn’t attempt to reduce any person to one dimension - humans are complex and multifaceted - but it does help us navigate human interactions, especially when a decision needs to be reached.
This conversation is focused on business, but users of this approach have also found it useful in business, in relationships, and in self-discovery.
